Nearly 20,000 students kicked off their crucial class XII examination (second term) conducted by the Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) by writing their 90-minute English (first language) paper on Wednesday at 20 centres across the State.
A total of 19,807 students have registered to take the HSSC exam in the Science, Arts, Commerce and Vocational streams. The exams end on March 31.
In the science stream, 2,850 girls and 2,531 boys are registered, while 5,066 students will take the exam in the Arts stream.Commerce has 6,079 students while there are 3,281 students registered for the vocational stream.
GBSHSE introduced this pattern of conducting both the SSC and HSSC examinations in two terms following the uncertainty in conducting offline exams due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, it will follow the pre-pandemic pattern of conducting a single final exam in March-April from the next academic year, it has announced.
The Board’s SSC examination is scheduled to commence from April 1.
