The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Lucy D’Cruz saw members demanding to know the status of any proposal mooted by the government or railway authorities to ease traffic congestion at the Chandor level crossing.
Members pointed out that thought the issue has been figuring at the gram sabha over the years, there’s still no solution forthcoming from the authorities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Sarpanch Marcel Fernandes informed that the issue over the inordinate delay in the construction of a public toilet in the market area came up for discussion at the gram sabha. He pointed out that though the panchayat had forwarded the proposal to the government with the necessary permissions, the toilet has not seen light of the day.
Members demanded that the panchayat pursue the matter with the government so that the toilet becomes a reality in the market area at the earliest.
In the meantime, gram sabha members complained of poor street illumination in the village, demanding that the authorities, including the electricity department, take up the repair work on a war-footing.
Members demanded further that the power department depute adequate manpower at the local electricity office and also keep a track on the officials, some
of whom they claimed report late to work almost everyday.
