MARGAO
Newly-appointed Chairman, filmmaker Rajendra Talak has promised a turnaround at the Ravindra Bhavan Margao to make it a premier cultural centre in the State, saying citizens will soon start to see changes taking place at the institution.
Talak along with vice-chairperson Manohar Borkar and members of the General Council took charge of office on Monday after invoking blessings of the Presiding deity Lord Damodar. BJP leaders -- MLA Digambar Kamat and former Fatorda MLA & ex-Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Damu Naik -- also descended at Ravindra Bhavan to extend their support to the new panel.
After assuming office, Talak told The Goan that he and his team would accord topmost priority to restarting the canteen facility and overall cleanliness at Ravindra Bhavan.
“Absence of canteen facilities has affected the visitors for a long time. There are issues of cleanliness and sanitation. I will try and fix these issues on topmost priority,” he said.
Talak, however, hastened to add that all issues will be resolved in a phased manner. “We will set targets to resolve the issues plaguing the cultural institution. We will try to give the best to the visitors availing the facilities at Ravindra Bhavan,” he said.
Talak added: “The new committee will do everything possible to bring about a change in Ravindra Bhavan. I can assure you that people visiting the institution will see the difference and say that changes are taking place.”
Seeking cooperation from the people to tide over the shortcoming and evolve solutions, Talak promised to make Ravindra Bhavan the premier cultural centre of Goa in the coming days. “I have already issued instructions to put the canteen in place and to repair the toilets. You will soon see the changes," he added.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat wished Talak and his team the very best to take Ravindra Bhavan to greater heights.
"There was no committee heading the Ravindra Bhavan for a long time. Work has been pending for a long. There are expectations from the people from the new chairman and his team since there was no decision making,” Kamat said while saying the new panel will take quick decisions and fast track the pending work.
Former Ravindra Bhavan Chairman, Damu said exuded confidence the new panel headed by Taluka would do justice to the job.
