Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House that new projects will only receive water connections if they have "Water Availability" certificates. He also said he would instruct all Public Works Department (PWD) officials to conduct a survey and confiscate any pumps installed on the main water pipelines to prevent water theft.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has urged the government to stop giving new water connections to building projects, hotels, and other commercial establishments. He pointed out that these establishments often use pumps to draw water from the main pipeline, which results in common people not getting enough water.
Lobo emphasized identifying and confiscating these pumps to ensure fair water distribution. He called on authorities to take immediate action to address this problem and make sure that residents receive their fair share of water.
