Budding artistes and art lovers, besides cultural organisations can look forward for a platform and a place to meet at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

Reason: The Ravindra Bhavan, Margao headed by film maker Rajendra Talak has unveiled a host of activities to promote art and culture in the cultural capital of Goa and to make Ravindra Bhavan as a go to place for artists.

Addressing the media along with Vice-Chairman Manohar Borkar and Member Secretary Agnelo Fernandes, Talak informed that activities will begin with ‘Kavyananda’ poetic meet for all young poets from Goa and especially from Salcete to present their work on every fourth week of the month at 5.30 pm at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

‘Kavyananda’ will be inaugurated on November 30, on the 113th Birth Anniversary of legendary poet Bakibab Borkar at the hands of MLA Digambar Kamat and Damodar (Damu) G Naik in the presence of renowned Music Director Ashok Patki and also a renowned writer, poet, actor Kishor Kadam (Saumitra).

Talak further said that Ravindra Bhavan club membership registration will start from November 22. He said the registered members will be allowed to use this Ravindra Bhavan Club space for meetings and discussion in connection with cultural and social activities. He, however, hastened to add that no business, political or religious meetings or discussions will be allowed, adding that outside eatables and consumption of alcohol will not be allowed since the premises is a no smoking area.

“This membership will be open to all individuals with theatre, music, dance, cultural background or any institutions in this field. It will be mandatory for the member who has registered under Ravindra Bhavan Club by paying Rs 100 per year, to be present for the meeting and a table for eight people will be reserved for a maximum of 3 hours after following the procedure of booking subject to availability,” he added.

Christmas celebration has been planned on December 19 at the Ravindra Bhavan open area from 4 pm onwards. Various activities are planned for parents and children.

Besides, ‘Khula Manch’ platform will be provided to young and upcoming artistes from the field of dance, music and theatre and they will be allowed to perform on this open stage.

“RBM will be paying a nominal honorarium to the artiste. The maximum time provided will be 60 mins. Idea of this platform is to give opportunity to all local talent from Goa to perform before the audience. This event will be held on first, second and third Friday of every month,” Talak added.
