Now, Ram Navami in list of public holidays

The Goa Government has declared an annual public holiday on Ram Navami, starting from 2024.

This declaration comes at a time, when the much awaited inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya is set for January 22, next year. The idol of Lord Ram will be installed at the temple on this day in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the State government has declared a list of public, special and restricted holidays for the upcoming calendar year. Total 18 public holidays are declared including Ram Navami, which will be celebrated on April 17, next year.

The government has also announced that banks will remain closed for 18 days on account of the bank holiday. However Ram Navmi is not included in this list.

Also, there are two special holidays declared on the occasion of Mahashivratri and Milad-Un-Nabi or Id-e-Milad. The government has directed its department heads to ensure that these holidays are necessarily sanctioned.

Also, the employees are entitled to 23 restricted holidays. There are also nine commercial and industrial holidays for that year.
