OL Grace HS, Kendriya Vidyalaya bag top honours in painting contest

The winners in the painting contest along with the chief guest and others at the prize distribution function held at the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Colvale.

The students of Our Lady of Grace High school, Bicholim, and Kendriya Vidyalaya No-2 bagged the first prize in two different categories in the state-level painting competition on “Energy Conservation – 2022” organised by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
The painting competition was organised for school students in two categories – Group A (class 5th to 7th) and Group B (class 8th to 10th). It was conducted in October and around 5,960 students representing 144 different schools participated in the competition.
The final competition and prize distribution ceremony was held on Sunday (Nov 20) at the sub-station premises at Colvale.
The first three winners in each of the categories will now represent Goa in the national painting contest which will be held next month in Delhi.
Executive Director of Power Grid (WR-I), Ravindar Kumar was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony while Mahesh Vengurlekar, Retd Principal of Goa College of Fine Arts, Vevek Belokar, Assistant Director of Technical Education and R Narayan, GM (WR-1) were the guest of honours.
The winners in Category A were Aditya Chendvankar of Our Lady of Grace High school, Bicholim (first), Kanishk Sawant of Shree Shanta Durga High School, Bicholim (second) and Ashwini Jadhav of Kendriya Vidyalaya No-2 (third).
The winners in Category B were Omkar Jadhav of Kendriya Vidyalaya No-2 (first), Jeeyaj Rekdo of Miracles High School (second) and Ruchir Vadyekar of Our Lady of Grace High school, Bicholim (third).
The first three winners took away cash prizes of Rs 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 respectively in each of the categories. Besides, Rs 7,500 each was also awarded as consolation prizes to 10 students in each of the categories.
