Several Old Goa residents have written to various authorities seeking action against unauthorised stalls, hawkers, and petty sellers on the footpath near their apartments, causing inconvenience to their daily routine.

The complaint, signed by 29 residents and shop owners of Vailankanni Apartments and Carl Centre, was sent to North Goa collector, mamlatdar, Goa Human Rights Commission, superintending archaeologist, revenue secretary, Old Goa panchayat, and the police.

The complaint highlights the impact on senior citizens, sick people, and children who face disrupted access and daily routines. It also mentions the difficulty in accessing shops, resulting in financial loss, and the lack of parking space.

Further issues include open defecation, littering, and drinking by hawkers. Residents have demanded the removal of all obstructions from the footpaths to ensure safe passage for vulnerable groups.

The Se Old Goa panchayat authorities confirmed that the stalls have no permission from the panchayat, with only fair-designated stalls being authorised.
