OLD GOA
As the fast satyagraha entered a new stage, people from Mandrem and Ponda constituencies extended their support to the agitation on Monday.
Though there was not a big crowd as expected, the people who participated in the satyagraha said they have come to support the demands of heritage lovers that the structure should be demolished to the ground.
One of the participants, Sydney Fernandes from Arambol, said he is supporting the agitation against the structure which has been given permissions through fraudulent means.
“We want the structure to be demolished to the ground level,” Fernandes added.
Another local from Mandrem also said they demand that the structure has to be razed.
At the end of the day, the participants broke their fast by having tea and snacks at the site.
Meanwhile, on the second-day people from Pernem and Shiroda will participate even as a decision has been taken to shift the agitation site to the precincts of St Cajetan church from Tuesday.
However, the decision has not gone down well with one of the members who had originally started the agitation.
“If we shift the site from the current location, it would not get the same attention,” the member informed The Goan.
Respondent says property sold, has no link anymore
OLD GOA:
It has been three days since the Se Old Goa panchayat issued a show-cause notice to those connected with the controversial structure and only one respondent has replied to the notice to date.
A reliable source in the panchayat informed that the respondent has stated that the property along with the structure has already been sold by them to Corvus Urban Infrastructure Ltd and hence, they have no link with it anymore.
The respondent has further told the panchayat not to make correspondences to them in the future, with regards to the structure.
The source further informed that two of the three respondents have already been served as the panchayat has received the counter receipt of the registered AD.
It may be recalled that The Goan had reported that the Se Old Goa panchayat had issued a show-cause notice to Jose Maria de Gouveia de Pinto and two others, stating why construction and subsequent renewal licences should not be revoked.
In the notice, the panchayat had cited violation of CRZ and ASI permissions, apart from TCP’s technical clearance revocation order.
The respondents were also given seven days to reply to the show-cause notice.
