Panaji: Bicholim police has arrested a 25-year-old Sai Dalvi from Satara, Maharashtra, for allegedly cheating a woman from Goa out of ₹18.99 lakh. The arrest was made following a complaint by Saloni Gawas, a resident of Ambekar Pale, Bicholim.
According to the police report, Sai Dalvi tricked Gawas by promising good returns in exchange for delivering goods. After realizing that she had been cheated, she lodged a formal complaint at the Bicholim Police station. The case was registered and Dalvi has been charged under sections 420 (cheating), 384 (extortion), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
With the help of technical surveillance and sustained efforts, the police were able to track down and arrest Sai Dalvi in Satara on Saturday. It was also revealed that Dalvi is wanted in connection with other cases, including one at Cancona Police Station.
