Palm Sunday was celebrated at Guardian Angel Church, Curchorem-Sanvordem with a Eucharistic service and special prayers. The celebration began in the morning with Parish Priest Fr Jose Caetano D’Costa blessing palm fronds, which were then distributed to the faithful.
In the evening, a procession was held with Fr D’Costa, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Ashlif Correia, sisters from the Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Convent, and members of the Confraria. Devotees recited the rosary and sang Lenten hymns as they walked with the images of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary, re-enacting the ‘Passion of Christ’. During the event, Rizelle Pereira sang the Veronica song while unrolling a picture showing Jesus’ suffering face.
Delivering the homily, Fr Movin Menezes, Assistant Parish Priest of St Joseph Church, St Jose de Areal, urged people to reflect on their faith and relationship with Christ.
“When we are disturbed and confused in life, we must learn to walk in the footsteps of Jesus,” Fr Menezes said. He added that being a true follower of Christ means letting go of personal desires and accepting God’s will. He encouraged everyone to be loving and accepting, and to seek God’s grace and trust in His plan every day.
