In the early hours of Friday, a parked bus caught fire near the Ganapati Temple in Shantinagar, alarming local residents who noticed the flames and smoke. Firefighters from the Vasco fire station rushed to the scene, and extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and the area has been secured.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time. The charred remains of the bus are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Speaking to reporters, Vasco fire station in-charge Dilip Bicholkar suggested a possible cause of the fire.

"The bus was parked close to high tension electric wires. There could be a possibility that the strong winds may have caused the wires to come in contact with the parked bus, causing sparks that led to the fire. We received a call at 4 am that the bus was on fire, and our team immediately reached the site and doused the fire. The bus was totally gutted in the fire, and we are carrying out an investigation to assess the losses caused by the incident."Said Bicholkar

Local residents praised the quick response of the firefighters, expressing relief that the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby structures. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of parking vehicles near high tension wires, and authorities are expected to review safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
