Work on the parking plaza at the Old market circle is finally nearing completion.

Two years after the parking plaza was launched in controversial circumstances, the parking plaza on the Margao Municipal Council acquired land at Old Market is finally nearing completion.
If an official of the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) is to be believed, work on the parking plaza project is almost complete. In fact, the official said the contractor is in the process the completing the toilet block proposed in the parking lot.
The parking project has been executed by GSUDA on the Margao Municipal Council acquired land, right from the Old market circle till the KTC bus stand.
Sources, however, said that parking plaza is a welcome project in Fatorda, which may further add to the parking space in and around the Old market area.
Beside the parking plaza, the Old market area plays host to vast parking space both in front of the SGPDA building and behind the market building.
The parking plaza project was launched in controversial circumstances when citizens laid the foundation stone for the project along with Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai in early 2023.
Work on the project was later stalled for a couple of months after the MMC declined to issue the NOC for the commencement of work on the plea that the acquired land is required to host the Old market feast fair.
