OLD GOA
As one travels from Pilar towards Old Goa, it is noticed that only one side of the road has been hotmixed, from Pilar to Azossim, while the other half is not. It gives the impression that the hotmixing work has been left incomplete.
However, clarifying on the same, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said that the portion of the road which has been hotmixed was dug for laying underground power cables.
“And as per the scope of the work order, that portion of the road was reinstated and hotmixed up to a width of 3 meters,” Borkar informed, while clarifying that the entire portion of the road, from Pilar to Old Goa, will be hotmixed before the Exposition of the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier in Old Goa.
“The proposal for the hotmixing of the road and related works like building drainages, laying pavers, etc., have been submitted to the Central government and it works out to around Rs 10 crore,” the MLA informed.
“Once the tender is approved, first the work on the drainages and pavers will be taken up. And the hotmixing of the road will be taken up before the Exposition, which begins in November,” Borkar added.
