A complete revamp of Baina beach is being planned in a bid to boost tourism and provide more employment opportunities for locals.

The long-standing issue faced by traditional fishermen regarding docking of boats is also expected to be addressed as part of this project.

Speaking to reporters, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Friday said a number of initiatives are planned for the beach.

“We have already begun laying pavers, and work on the beach access road will start shortly. The beach will also be well-illuminated to ensure safety and convenience for visitors,” Amonkar said.

He emphasised that a revamped Baina beach would significantly enhance the tourism potential of the area.

“This initiative is expected to breathe new life into Baina Beach, turning it into a vibrant tourism hub,” said Amonkar.

“Our goal is to change the entire face of the beach, making it a prime destination for tourists, which will generate employment for the local community.”

The Mormugao MLA also said that the long-standing issue faced by traditional fishermen regarding docking of boats will also be addressed.

Commenting on the cleanliness drive at Baina beach on Friday, Amonkar said he would continue organising beach cleanliness drives, medical camps, and blood donation camps as part of the nationwide Swachhata drive from September 17 to October 2 to commemorate the Prime Minister’s birthday.
