An innovative way to combat corruption in government departments! The Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Department has taken ‘a pledge and sensitization of anti-corruption laws’ to tackle the menace after one of its officers was caught demanding a bribe from a job aspirant this year.
Replying to an unstarred question, IT Min Rohan Khaunte stated that the department filed an FIR against a Group A Gazetted Officer and the case is under investigation with the Vigilance Department.
IT Deputy Director Siddharth Borkar who allegedly demanded a bribe from a job candidate, was suspended after a preliminary inquiry confirmed his involvement. The ITG had advertised for the position with a monthly salary of Rs 75,000.
To another question by LoP Yuri Alemao about corrective measures the government has taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated/do not occur again, the department replied, “Anti Corruption Pledge, Sensitisation of Anti Corruption laws".
