Politician and 'Wanted' actress' husband Abu Farhan Azmi booked for public disturbance in Goa

Abu Farhan Azmi, politician and husband of Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia, has been booked for creating public nuisance in Candolim and allegedly brandishing a licensed firearm during a late-night altercation.

Three locals Zeon Fernandes, Joseph Fernandes, Sham and other unidentified persons also involved in the incident, have also been booked by the Calangute police that took suo motu cognisance of the matter. 

All accused have served notices by the Calangute police, North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal said. 

The FIR alleged that the accused persons were involved in public fight near a supermarket late Monday night, disturbing public peace and causing affray. 

Azmi is also the son of Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi. 

Kaushal informed that the confrontation began when an SUV allegedly driven by Azmi changed lanes without signalling. This led to an argument with locals. The situation escalated when Azmi reportedly mentioned possessing a licensed firearm whereas some witnesses claimed he brandished the gun. Police said the matter is under investigation. 

Kaushal stated that both groups were taken to the Calangute Police Station and given the opportunity to file complaints, but they declined. They also refused medical examination at District Hospital, Mapusa. During the investigation, Azmi provided a valid arms license and a permit to carry the firearm to Goa.
