Porvorim police team alongwith the accused person on Thursday

Porvorim Police have arrested one person for snatching mobile phone of a foreigner at Pilerne. According to Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar of Porvorim Police Station, one foreigner Novikov Sarge, native of Israel had lodged a complaint that on April 18 while he was travelling from Pilerne to Betim, one person on a Dio scooter had snatched a Samsung Galaxy phone from his wife’s hand which is worth Rs1,20,000.
Based on the complaint police registered FIR under section 379 IPC and conducted investigation.
Through technical surveillance and reliable information police arrested on Thursday one accused person namely Taufik Shaikh, aged 19 yrs and resident of Paithona.
The stolen mobile has also been recovered from the accused person.
The investigation team was supervised by SP North Nidhin Valsan IPS, SDPO Porvorim Vidhwesh Karpe and consisted of PI Anant Gaonkar, PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Pratik Bhatprabhu, constables Nitesh Gaude, Siddesh Naik and Yogesh Shinde. Further investigation is in progress.
