CANACONA
The BJP in the Canacona constituency has announced the booth presidents for all 59 booths and elected Prabhakar Gaonkar as the new Canacona BJP president after a lengthy process.
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, appointed as the Returning Officer by the BJP headquarters, declared Gaonkar’s appointment in the presence of Canacona MLA and Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and outgoing president Vishal Dessai.
Tawadkar highlighted that the 10-member booth-level committees and the presidents of all 59 booths are the backbone of the party, whose strength will help the BJP overcome challenges and achieve victory.
Earlier, the names of all 59 booth presidents were announced to form the electoral college for the block president’s election, and each booth president was honoured with a scarf and a flower presented by Tawadkar and Amonkar. Prominent booth presidents include Ganpat Naikgaunkar (Booth No. 1, Mudkud-Agonda), Deepasvi Velip (Parvem), Nilesh Pagui (Booth No. 3, Dhavalkhazan), Purushottam Naikgaonkar, Rajesh Bandekar, Agnelo Estevan Rodrigues, Dinesh Komarpant, and CMC Councillor Hemantkumar Naikgaunkar.
Other notable names are Narcisco (Nadin) Fernandes, CMC Councillor and Deputy Vice Chairperson (Booth No. 18), and Prarthana Naikgaunkar, former CMC Chairperson (Booth No. 19), among several others.
Chanda Desai proposed the vote of thanks, while Canacona Block General Secretary Vishant Gaonkar welcomed the attendees. Youth President Rajnesh Komarpant, Ex-CMC Chairperson Divakar Pagui, and Manuska Naik Gaonkar were also present.
Prabhakar Gaonkar, who was previously the Vice President of the block, expressed gratitude for his promotion and called for cooperation to prepare for the 2027 assembly elections.
He added that the new Executive Committee, including General Secretaries, the Treasurer, and other members, would be announced soon.
