The Directorate of Health Services will begin administering precautionary third dose of Covid vaccination from Monday to healthcare and frontline workers and persons aged above 60 years with co-morbidities.
State Immunization Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar informed that Goa the authorities are working on a projection of around 28,000 people, who are eligible for the precautionary dose in Goa.
The vaccination of healthcare workers will be undertaken at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim and at all health centres across the State.
While there needs to be a gap of nine months between the second dose of Covid vaccination and the precautionary dose, the eligible persons are not required to register in advance or carry any medical certificate as proof of co-morbid conditions.
Dr Borkar said that the precautionary dose will offer a high degree of protection from “complications, hospitalization and death due to Covid.”
The vaccination drive is set to continue in full swing as the state government has received one lakh more doses of Covaxin in addition to the 74,200 received at the start of vaccination drive for children between the age of 15 and 18 years.
