The District Magistrate of North Goa has issued prohibitory orders within a 500-meter radius of the Assembly Complex in Porvorim and the Panaji Police Station area ahead of the upcoming legislative assembly session on February 6-7.

The order prohibits the assembly of five or more people, holding processions, carrying firearms or weapons like lathis, swords, daggers, or spears, using loudspeakers, shouting slogans, and lighting fires in public places, streets, roads, squares, lanes, or open spaces. This order will be in effect from 10 am on February 6 until the Assembly session concludes.

The District Magistrate also clarified that these restrictions will not apply to public servants on duty or to genuine marriage or funeral processions, or other special occasions deemed legitimate by the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, or Sub-Divisional Magistrates.

For such events, prior written permission must be obtained from the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, or Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
