Just ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, a slew of foundation stones were laid by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and PWD minister Deepak Pauskar for various projects in St Andre constituency.

Also present for the ceremonies were St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira, St Andre ZP member Dhaku Madkaikar, sarpanchas and panchas of the panchayats in St Andre.

Among the projects include the water tank at Agassaim, VP ghars for Siridao and Goa Velha, ground at Goa Velha, renovation of Neura VP ghar and others.

Speaking at a function at Agassaim, Sawant said St Andre constituency has seen a lot of development in the last two-and-half years, which it had not seen in the last 10 years.

“The total cost of today’s projects is over Rs 50 crore,” said Sawant, while promising that the projects will be completed, unlike during earlier times, when only foundation stones were laid and projects kept pending.

“Our government is focused on infrastructure development and human development,” Sawant said, while hitting out at political parties which divide people on the basis of their religion.

Sawant also tried to woo St Andre voters by pointing out that PM Modi’s visit to Pope Francis in Vatican was one of its kind in the history of India.

Speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Pauskar said the Agassaim project which consists of a 2000 cubic metre reservoir and 600 cubic metre overhead tank will cater to the water needs of St Andre constituency.

“It has to be completed in 12 months,” he added.

Pauskar also informed that the GMC-Verna highway road, barring the Zuari bridge portion, would be completed by December 19.

“A cattle pass will also be built at Agassaim to ensure that farmers are not troubled while crossing over,” Pauskar stated.

St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Congress workers showed black flags to the CM and other leaders of the BJP when the function at Agassaim was underway.
