Private bus operators on the Fatorpa-Cuncolim-Margao route have cried foul over the operators running Mhaji bus service on the Canacona-Margao route for flouting bus timings.
A delegation of the private bus operators led by Shailendra Faldesai called on the Cuncolim police station in-charge, PI Diego Gracias to complain over the operations of the Mhaji bus service.
After giving the delegation a patient hearing, PI Gracias told the private bus operators to give a complaint in writing to initiate action. He further told the delegation that they may have to approach the RTO if there is any violation of the bus timings by any bus operator.
Shailendra Faldesai and other private bus operators claimed that the clash of timings have left the private bus operators without any business. “We are running the buses in a big loss. The time has come to stop plying our private buses if the authorities do not crack a whip and allow level playing fields for all the bus operators,” Shailendra said.
They also demanded that the authorities should find out whether the Mhaji bus service are running as per the laid down guidelines or whether they are allowed to flout the rules just to ensure they meet the daily collection target.
