In what could be termed as a major relief to cancer patients in the region, the Radio Oncology Unit began operations at KLE Cancer Hospital, which is set up in the KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore campus.
Dr Prabhakar Kore, Chairman KLE Society, flagged off the first phase of his dream project of a state-of-the-art KLE Cancer Hospital at Belagavi on the occasion of Basava Jayanti.
“After a long wait, the Radiation Oncology which was the need of the patients in the region has been setup and has commenced operations. Many first of a kind and latest technological services will be launched over the coming year at the hospital,” Dr Kore said.
Speaking on the occasion, KLES MD and CEO Dr M V Jali said the most advanced, world class radiation treatment system has been set up, the first of its kind in India with SRS Cones, Mobius 3D Velocity and premium, HyperArc TrueBeam with integrated features.
“Also, the BEBIG SagiNava machine has been installed which is helpful in brachy treatment, providing specific treatment on and inside the tumor,” Dr Jali said.
