The Reserve Bank of India has officially announced the issue of 200 rupees notes on Friday.
The base colour of the note will be bright yellow similar to the reminiscent Rs 2 note, stated RBI. The note will also have a motif of the Sanchi Stupa on the reverse side.
The new note will be issued in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series and will be bearing the signature of Dr Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve bank of India.
The RBI also mentioned that the introduction of the new currency denomination is likely to bridge the shortage of small currency denomination notes that have faced a shortage after introduction of Rs 2000 notes and demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
