Recruitment process to continue but appointments only in April: CM

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today clarified that the ban on recruitment appointment during the final quarter of the financial year is just an austerity measure and that the new appointments would be done with effect from April.

The state government on Tuesday directed all the departments to rationalize expenditure in thr last three months of the fiscal to ensure that funds are available for development works, payment of salaries and welfare schemes.

Sawant said that the ban on recruitment imposed only means that the appointments would be done in April and that the process of recruitment through the Goa Staff Selection Commission and Goa Public Service Commission will continue.

He said that the ban is a measure to ensure that there are no financial implications on the State at the end of the financial year.

Meanwhile, the State Cabinet today approved the creation of six new senior-scale officer posts in the Goa Police.

The Cabinet has also approved amendments to the Dump Mining Policy to streamline the e-auction process, which is expected to enhance the efficiency and transparency of mining activities in Goa.

Highlighting a major administrative reform, CM Sawant revealed that the government is in the final stages of creating a third district in Goa. "The process is in the final stage and will be declared soon," he said. The new district will encompass four hinterland talukas: Canacona, Sanguem, Dharbandora, and Quepem.
