Regina Martyrum High School Girls U-14 football team were crowned State champions recently. In a thrilling final, Regina put across Green Rosary High School, Dona Paula 4-2 to take home the title for the very first time.
Regina had the opposition under the pump from the word go when Razia Pereira played a blistering long ranger which went under the horizontal. It was not long after in the 10th minute, that Regina doubled their lead when Daisy Crasto found the back of the nets from a neat cross made by Clency Miranda.
In the 20th minute, Carol of Green Rosary reduced the margin. After the breather, Regina kept up the momentum to open up the margin again through a spectacular free-kick taken by Razia Pereira. On the 45th minute, Clency Miranda (Regina) bulged the nets to comfortably give her side a three-goal buffer. The Dona Paula based rivals restored some pride in the 55th minute for their second goal.
