A week after Porvorim residents submitted photographic evidence highlighting poor road conditions on several stretches between Porvorim and Guirim, they informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that the situation had further deteriorated.

In its submission to the Division Bench comprising Justice M. S. Karnik and Justice Nivedita Mehta, the interveners, represented by Advocate Abhijit Gosavi, stated that the motorable road was not up to the mark and continued to worsen.

He further submitted that the areas requiring urgent road repairs would be brought to the contractor M/s Lion Engineering Consultants Pvt Ltd’s notice, who subsequently assured the Court that necessary work would be taken up on priority.

The Court adjourned the PIL, filed by Advocate Moses Pinto, for further hearing on Thursday.

On January 21, the High Court directed the contractor handling the Porvorim flyover project to submit an affidavit by Thursday, outlining a timeline for the ongoing works while also observing that some road stretches, reported as completed through hot-mixing, were in fact still pending.
