Following the increasing number of complaints about unsanitary conditions in some restaurants, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today announced that inspection of all such food establishments across the State.
Rne took on X to inform that the Goa Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will enforce stringent measures to improve food safety and hygiene across the state.
The initiative, mandated by the state government, will involve comprehensive inspections conducted by FDA officers and third-party auditors empanelled with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, he said.
Rane said that under the new guidelines, all restaurants must obtain an official hygiene rating certificate and display it on their premises.
"The inspections will evaluate compliance with FSSAI standards, focusing on sanitation protocols, staff hygiene practices, and waste management systems," the Minister said.
Rane further stated that non-compliance with these measures could lead to strict action under existing food safety regulations.
He said that the campaign aims to enhance food safety standards and restore public confidence in Goa's restaurant industry.
Restaurant owners with questions about the new requirements have been advised to contact the FDA office during regular working hours.
