Exuding confidence that Revolutionary Goans (RG) would form the next government in the State, its president Viresh Borkar was confident of winning over 21 seats in the upcoming assembly elections.

Borkar was speaking to The Goan while creating awareness on the Persons of Goan Origin (POGO) bill at Dhaktem Bhat-Mandur on Wednesday.

“From the state-wide response we have been getting, we are confident of winning over 21 seats to ensure that RG forms the next government,” Borkar claimed.

“By June-July, we are going to announce our first list of candidates for the assembly elections as we have already started grooming prospective candidates in 23 constituencies,” said Borkar.

“People are totally fed up with the current political parties, be it BJP, Congress, MGP, Goa Forward and others. People are upset that Goans are marginalised in their own land and they are looking towards RG to fight for their identity and rights,” Borkar said.

Asked if the support would translate into votes, taking into consideration the huge role played by money during the elections, Borkar said the hearts of Goans are burning because they have realised that politicians have sold the motherland by bringing in destructive projects.

“Goans have also seen how politicians have hopped from one party to the other for their personal gains. They have got fed up with the current politicians, their lies, their betrayals. Goans are eagerly waiting to teach these politicians a lesson,” Borkar said.

To another question, Borkar rubbished claims in certain quarters that RG has taken the political plunge only to split non-BJP votes.

“Today, RG is the only real opponent of the BJP. If there is any threat to the BJP in Goa, it is from RG. It is only evident from the fact that BJP is using its machinery to file frivolous cases against RG members, including Manoj Parab.”

“Our members have openly challenged the BJP, due to which they are being targeted. But our youth are fearless and they are going to spread the fire that is burning in their heart to entire Goa. Nobody will be able to stop this revolution,” Borkar said.

Speaking on the awareness campaign, Borkar said it's been a fortnight since RG began awareness campaign on POGO bill.

"We have started the campaign in 23 constituencies and in the coming days, it will be spread in the remaining constituencies so that the awareness reaches each and every corner of the state," he said.

“Our main aim is to propagate the POGO bill in which only Goan-origin persons get benefits like 100% government jobs, 80% jobs in private sector, 100% benefit of communidade land, 100% government schemes like DSSY, Griha Aadhar, Laadli Laxmi, etc, 100% benefits of housing board projects and 100% government contracts,” Borkar added.
