Rider escapes as power pole comes
down on moving scooter in Mapusa

A two-wheeler rider had a miraculous escape after an electric pole came down on his moving scooter after the sudden thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds brought down a Gulmohar tree along the main State highway at Duler, Mapusa late Monday evening.
The rider who noticed that the electric pole coming down left his Dio scooter on the main road and took to his heels.
The youth Krish Naik from Duler, Mapusa suffered minor injuries.
The incident, however, disrupted the power supply in parts of Mapusa.
The traffic had to also be re-routed as the main road was cut off for vehicular movement during the entire day on Tuesday.
The Mapusa fire station received 22 distress calls from different areas of Bardez on account of the thundershowers. At least three houses suffered minor damage due to tree falls.
