Road diversion announced at Sangolda, Porvorim for elevated corridor project

PANAJI

The District Magistrate of North Goa has announced a traffic diversion plan for the construction of Phase 2 of the National Highway 66 elevated corridor project. The diversion, which has been effective from September 11, will remain in place until the project's completion. This will impact vehicular traffic at specific sections between the Sangolda junction and Mall de Goa in Porvorim.

According to the official notice, the affected stretch runs from CH 508.610 to CH 508.910 at the central median of Sangolda junction, covering a 70-meter section towards the Panaji side (Sector 3). Additionally, from CH 511.920 to CH 512.340, vehicles will be diverted near Mall de Goa to Chhatrapati Shivaji Statue and onto the Vishwanath Lavande Road (Existing Service Road) in Sector 4. Despite the diversions, traffic at the Sangolda junction near Dr. Signey Pinto's residence (Sector 3) will continue to flow along the existing NH-66, with a six-meter-wide road remaining open for vehicles on either side of the construction barricades.

The construction of the elevated corridor will commence from the central median at Sangolda Junction, extending 70 meters towards Panaji, where the road width is sufficient to accommodate traffic. In addition, traffic along the stretch from Mall de Goa to Delfino Junction will be diverted towards the Chhatrapati Shivaji Statue and then onto Vishwanath Lavande Road.
