Russian DJ arrested in Keri for alleged drug possession

Panaji:  Russian DJ has been arrested in Goa for allegedly possessing illegal drugs, including liquid ecstasy (GHP) and ganja, following a raid at her rented residence in Keri-Pernem. The raid, conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), led to the seizure of 337 grams of liquid ecstasy and 33.16 grams of ganja all worth Rs 16 lakhs.

Speaking to the media, ANC Superintendent of Police (SP) Gupta explained that the raid was part of a larger investigation into a pan-India drug network. The police had previously uncovered an LSD network worth ₹1 crore and, based on that information, they began looking into possible links to GHP, a potent drug. "Through our sources and technical surveillance, we were able to identify the Russian DJ as a suspect," said SP Gupta.

The DJ, who had been performing at small parties, was found with significant quantities of GHP and ganja during the raid. GHP, also known as Gamma Hydroxybutyrate, is commonly referred to as "liquid ecstasy" or "liquid X," and is notorious for being used as a date rape drug. It can be added to drinks to render the victim unconscious or semi-conscious, making them vulnerable to assault. SP Gupta explained, "Once the victim regains consciousness, they often don't remember what happened, which makes it dangerous, especially in party environments."

This is reportedly the first time GHP has been found in Goa. The DJ, who has been in Goa since around 2013 or 2014, was reportedly staying on a tourist visa and working as a freelance DJ, producing her own music and performing at private events.

ANC is continuing its investigation to find more and if any possible drug networks or additional links associated with the arrested. The lady DJ has been taken into custody for two days as part of the ongoing investigation.
