Sancoale Panchayat led by Sarpanch Girish Pillai on Saturday launched farming beneficial Development projects worth Rs 60 lakhs at ward no 3 on the occasion of Goa Revolution Day in the presence of Ward panch Tulshidas Naik, other panch members and local farmers.
Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai speaking to media after the launching of the projects said that while Goa had achieved its freedom, Goa needed another farming revolution and hence had decided to launch the long pending demand and the farming beneficial projects worth Rs 60 lakhs on Goa Revolution day.
"These development works of Rs 60 lakhs are only in one ward and we have carried many such development works across all wards. These projects are beneficial for local farmers and had been a long-pending demand and these projects will help the farmers get back to their fields again. We have taken up development across all wards and all our panch members are united and we never discriminated wards of ruling and opposition to bring about overall development of the entire village," said Pillai.
Ward panch Tulshidas Naik said that the development projects included a retaining wall and other projects that could help local farmers of his ward.
"We have to carry forward what our ancestors gave us and Goa Revolution Day is the best day to get the farmers back into their fields. We will be taking up two retaining walls around the fields because these fields have not been cultivated for many years after saline water entered the fields. These retaining walls will prevent the saline water from entering the fields and the farmers can start cultivation this monsoon itself. We will also clean gutters and the congested roads that had never been widened since 1985 will be widened for a long stretch. We are glad that our Sarpanch Girish Pillai has helped us take this long pending demand of the farmers and getting our files cleared," said Naik.
