Sanquelim Municipal Council chairperson Rajesh Sawal cited that politics was behind the revocation of permission granted to the Save Mhadei meeting which was to be held at Sanquelim municipal grounds.
“When the decision was taken, the council was not taken into confidence. I came to know about the revocation at 5.30 pm but the phones of the staff were switched off,” Sawal stated.
“Later, I went to various places to choose another spot but did not get any. Finally, I decided to hold the meeting on our property,” Sawal added and stated that he would always support the Save Mhadei movement.
Meanwhile, former SMC councillor Sunitabai Vernekar pointed out how messages are being circulated in a group in Sanquelim stating that the meeting is a political one and is against the Chief Minister.
