Paddy cultivators from Sattari taluka have expressed fear of losses in production due to continuous rains in the taluka for the last 15 days.

According to sources, heavy rains have lashed in various parts of the taluka and over 31 inches of rainfall was recorded in taluka for the last 15 days, which could harm paddy cultivation in the taluka.
When contacted, the zonal agricultural officer Valpoi Prakash Raut said continuous rains since the last 15 days could damage the paddy fields, as huge amount of water is logged in the fields.
Narayan Gaonkar, a paddy cultivator, said for the last several years, he has been cultivating the paddy, but heavy rains this year could be the cause for damage.
