Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday visited the flood-affected area at Paroda and also the road leading to Chandreshwar Temple, which has developed cracks and could cave in, if not repaired immediately.
Earlier in the day, residents in Paroda voiced resentment over the closure of the Paroda bridge for traffic, as the side railings were washed away due to flood waters.
Zilla Panchayat Member Siddarth Dessai informed that after public anger over the closure of the bridge, authorities swung into action and placed metal railings all along the bridge before opening the bridge for vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, there was also resentment among the public at Paroda as the distress call made to the helpline numbers of the Disaster Management Cell were left unanswered.
While bringing this to his notice during his visit to the village, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the villagers to call on helpline number 100 for immediate action.
During his visit to the damaged portion of the road proceeding to Chandreshwar Temple, Sawant directed the PWD officials to undertake the repair work on priority basis.
Around 50 metres of the road has been damaged with huge cracks on either side of the road. There is every possibility of the road caving in if the same is not repaired at the earliest, complained villagers.
