Water began overflowing through the duckbill spillway at Selaulim Dam on Tuesday morning and while the breathtaking sight usually attracts a large number of visitors, authorities have prohibited people from visiting the dam area on account of Covid-related restrictions.

According to the Water Resources Department (Div- X) at Pajimol-Sanguem, the Salauli Dam reservoir was full and began overflows through the duckbill spillway at 6 am.

However, WRD officials have stated that entry to visitors and tourists is restricted at Salaulim Dam in view of health and public safety.

WRD officials have also advised people living on downstream and upstream of the dam not to enter into the river and in the reservoir to carry out activities like swimming, fishing, washing and other activities, to prevent any untoward incident.

In addition to the water overflowing from the duckbill spillway, the dam also has a botanical garden which usually attracts a large number of visitors all year round. However, visits have been prohibited since the pandemic in March last year.
