In a significant initiative aimed at empowering senior citizens, the Village Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua, in collaboration with the Forum for Senior Citizens of Chinchinim and supported by Helpage India, successfully conducted a Digital Safety Training Guide for elders.
The training session was designed to equip seniors with essential skills to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. With the increasing use of technology in everyday life, it is crucial for older adults to understand how to protect themselves online from scams, fraud, and privacy issues.
Participants engaged in interactive workshops that covered topics such as recognising phishing attempts, securing personal information, and utilising social media safely. The initiative received positive feedback from attendees, many of whom expressed gratitude for the valuable information provided.
“We believe that technology should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age. Our goal is to ensure that our senior citizens feel safe and empowered to use digital tools,” said Sarpanch Frank Viegas.
The event reflects a growing commitment to fostering an inclusive community where seniors can thrive in a digital age. Plans for future sessions are already in the works, with the aim of reaching even more elders in the region.
