VASCO
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Monday launched the works on the sewerage connections at Mangor in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker, ward councillor Narayan Borker and others. Speaking to media later Salkar said that the works on sewerage were very vital in the area that had many houses.
“This project is taken at the cost of Rs 11.6 lakhs. Entire Vasco city is struggling with sewerage issues and at many places the sewage starts leaking onto the roads which causes unbearable stench and further splashes on people when vehicles pass through these patches. We have proposed sewerage works in many parts of Vasco and have also tendered works for setting up sewage pumping stations at Orulem and Belabai area. Plans are afoot to have sewage pumping stations at Maimolem and land acquisition process for sewage station at Kharewado is in the process. We are stressing on having proper sewerage connections in all parts of Vasco and this launching of sewerage works is a part of this larger plan. The sewage works in this densely populated area is very vital and we will start sewerage works in Sasmolem and get the work order within one week” said Salkar.
