Hundreds of people gathered at Chaudi-Canacona to witness the Canacona Shigmotsav parade on Tuesday evening.
The Shigmo float parade was flagged off by Shigmotsav Committee Working President Babesh Borkar and Welcome Committee President/CMC Chairperson Sara Shamba Naik Desai in the presence of Dy. Collector Madhu Narvekar, Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, councillors, sarpanchas of a few VPs, and a representative of the tourism department.
The Shigmo parade began with a local ‘Romtamel’ leading the way, as junior and senior fancy dress participants marched along the route. The Chitrarath, Romtamel, and folk dance troupes followed later at night.
People lined up on both sides of the route from Char-Rasta to KTC Bus Stand, Chaudi.
Incidentally, at least half a dozen Chitrarath had been lined up in Canacona since early Tuesday morning.
The Shigmo parade continued till late at night with the participation of the Romtamel, Chitrarath, and folk dance troupes, as well as junior and senior fancy-dress participants.
Authorities had made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth flow of the Shigmo parade, while police regulated traffic in the area.
