New administrator is priest of Goan origin

Fr Andrew Calista Minguel D’Mello, a priest of Goan origin, has been elected Administrator of the Diocese of Sindhudurg, after Pope Francis had accepted the resignation presented by Bishop Anthony Alwyn Barreto last week.
In a letter on Monday, Fr Milton Monteiro, Judicial Vicar of the College of Consultors, stated that the College of Consultors had elected Fr D’Mello as the new Diocesan Administrator as per provision of the Canon Law.
Fr Monteiro further stated that Fr D’Mello had accepted the election.
Fr D’Mello is a Goan Settler in Sindhudurg and his ancestral routes belong to Anjuna, where he is a Gauncar of Anjuna Comunidade.
