PANAJI: The Dabolim Airport Traffic Police Cell arrested five persons for drunk driving in a drive against drunken driving last evening. The drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol as they were checked using the alcometers.
In another crackdown, Calangute police booked a bus driver for allegedly driving under the influence. He was caught during a special drive at Baga Circle by the local traffic cell.
With this, the Goa police booked six cases of drunken driving at two locations.
The Dabolim Traffic Police Inspector Rahul Damshekar stressed the importance of such actions.
"Drunk driving jeopardizes lives, and we are dedicated to ensuring the safety of commuters and pedestrians. We will continue to take strict action against violators," he said.
He further emphasised that the crackdown serves as a reminder for drivers to comply with traffic laws and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities have also urged the public to report instances of reckless driving to help maintain safer roads for all.
