The Town and Country Planning Board (TCP) has decided to prepare Geographical Information System (GIS)-based planning by aligning with the National Remote Sensing Centre.

The TCP Board held its meeting on Saturday under the chairmanship of Minister Vishwajit Rane. The meeting was attended by chief town planners Rajesh Naik and Vertika Dangur, Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai and other senior officials.

Rane said that the department’s approach is moving forward in environment sensitivity and GIS-based scientific precision, aligning with the National Remote Sensing Centre to meticulously map every aspect of our spatial plan on the lines of sustainable development goals to contain urban sprawl.

“We are committed to creating comprehensive spatial plans from various perspectives, driven by the vision of making Goa a progressive State,” he said.

The Minister also said that the Board strives to move forward with the best planning practices, ensuring the best outcomes for the people including increase in employment and women empowerment.

“We deliberated on a wide array of issues pertaining to town and country planning. We received several constructive suggestions from Board member Ralph de Souza,” Rane added.
