A delegation presenting a memorandum to South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha.
CANACONA
A delegation of sitting and former councillors of Canacona Municipal Council (CMC), social activists and office bearers of Canacona Block Congress and Youth Congress met South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha to complain that trains were not halting at the Canacona Railway Station.
While submitting a memorandum, they claimed that the halt of many trains at Canacona had been cancelled during the Covid pandemic as a precautionary measure and though everything has been normalised, the trains were still not halting at Canacona.
The delegation also added that people residing in Canacona face a lot of hardships in the absence of halts at the Canacona Railway Station and are forced to travel 40 kms to Margao or Karwar to board trains. They requested the South Goa MP to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The delegation led by GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari consisted of CMC ex-chairperson Sameer Dessai, Canacona councillors Dhiraj Dessai and Shubham Komarpant, former Cotigao sarpanch Mahadev Gaonkar, Social Activist Shekar Dessai, Canacona Block Congress President Pralay Bhagat, Canacona Block Youth Congress President Vaishnav Pednekar and Canacona Block Youth Congress General Secretary Manesh Naik Gaonkar.
