The South Western Railways (SWR) on Thursday afternoon launched improvised train services in Goa, with the first train ‘Goa Express’ with replaced Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches launched at Vasco railway station.

The Goa Express train was flagged off by SWR Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer H Vijaykumar in the presence of Coaching Depo officer G Shaikh and Vasco Station Manager Vipul Kumar

According to sources in the Railways, the trains were earlier equipped with Integral Coach Factory (ICF) bogies which have been replaced now by Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) bogies.

“We have launched the Goa Express moving between Goa and Hazrat Nizamuddin from the Vasco Railway station with all the coaches replaced by the LHB coaches. The LHB are modern coaches with additional improved facilities from toilets to seating arrangements for the passengers,” said the source.

“The LHB coaches are equipped with new technologies and also more convenient, comfortable and safe and will give a comfortable journey to the passengers because there are designed to absorb high speeds to ensure there will be no jerks while travelling.”

“These coaches are anti-telescopic coaches which increase the safety manifold of the passengers since they are specifically designed to stop the pile-ups of coaches in the case of accidents. The interiors of LHB coaches are designed to minimise injury to passengers and are deemed safer. The bogies are bigger in length and more spacious and will give great comfort to the passengers during long travels,” the source added.
