PANAJI:
The Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media (DCSCM) has introduced a special postal commemorative cover to commemorate the 18th Exposition of St. Francis Xavier’s Relics, a once-in-a-decade event dedicated to ‘Goencho Saib’.
This innovative cover, a first in India, is printed on metallic matt paper with raised UV effects highlighting key elements like the Relic Casket, Bom Jesus Basilica, and Exposition logo. It also features a real silver coin effect and metallic shine. Additionally, 100 numbered covers crafted from natural cork paper with silver effects have been made, along with matching posters, postcards, and bookmarks.
The project was conceptualized and coordinated by Blaise Fernandes of Caranzalem, a philatelist and secretary of the PPC of Panjim Deanery. The design was created by Kolkata-based philatelist Alok K. Goyal.
These limited-edition items are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the DCSCM Help Desk in the Bom Jesus Basilica compound during the Exposition.
