PANAJI; The first special train from Goa to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh will be flagged off on Feb 8.

Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai informed reporters that the special train under the CM Dev Darshan Yatra Yojana will depart from Margao Railway Station on February 6 at 8 am. Two more trains are scheduled on February 13 and February 21.

This comes barely a week after CM Pramod Sawant announced a special train to facilitate devotees from Goa to attend the ongoing Mahakumbh in Uttar Pradesh.

Phal Dessai stated the move is to help devotees who may not afford the high costs of travel. “A lot of people want to go but can’t because of the expensive airfare and train tickets,” he said. Eligible applicants, aged 18 to 60 years, with no medical issues, can book tickets on a first-come, first-served basis by calling 0832-2232257.

The scheme offers discounted travel to make it easier for residents to participate in the spiritual event.
