Goan industrialist Srinivas Dempo has made it to the '360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List' 2023' which is an annual ranking of the wealthiest individuals of India.
The list features Dempo, a third generation leader of the diversified Dempo group, at rank 840 with a net worth of Rs 1800 crore.
Dempo is promoter of the listed Goa Carbon Limited and Hindustan Foods besides owning a number of other private businesses including top Goan construction and real estate firm Devashree.
Topping the list, meanwhile, is Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) with a net worth of over Rs 8 lakh crore, much ahead of Gautam Adani, the controversial and beleaguered chairman of the Adani group with a net worth of Rs 4-odd lakh crore.
Ambani's wealth has grown from Rs 3 lakh crore in 2019 to Rs 8 lakh crore in 2023, according to Hurun India and 360 ONE Wealth which released this list for 2023 recently in a communique.
It says the ranking is based on the net worth of individuals calculated by taking into account their assets, including publicly traded stocks, real estate and private businesses as of 30 August 2023. However, the list does not factor in liabilities including debt.
Counted as Indians for the list are individuals residing or born and grown up in India and is the twelfth annual list they released.
Adani's wealth on the other hand has decreased by Rs 6.19 lakh crore, the biggest annual wealth decline ever recorded for an individual in India.
According to the list and the accompanying report, the cumulative wealth of all on the list is Rs 109 lakh crore, more than the combined GDP of Singapore, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
“The release of the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023 is a testament to the remarkable growth and dynamism of India’s economy.
