The Old Goa police have detained two persons from Belgaum, accused of chasing a rental car in which a Gujarati businessman and his girlfriend, a management student from Sankhalim, were travelling. The victim driver Bashudev Bhandari has been missing for over a week despite an intensive search.

Yasim Mohd Gous, 32 and Salman Mohd Gaus, 28, both hailing from Belgaum were detained from Hubli. According to the police, the two had driven Toyota Etios car to Goa and visited a casino in Panaji.

A minor brush with the rental car GA-03-W-8421 led to a speeding chase.

"The suspects travelled to Goa from Belgaum on Aug 31 with Etios car GA.07.E.5395. They went to capital city to play at a casino and were travelling back to Belgaum in the early hours on September 01. They met with minor accident with the rental swift car, driven by the missing person, at Marcel," the police said adding,

"Bashudev feared and escaped from the accident spot without any discussion with the suspects. In anger, the suspects closely chased the swift car towards Sr Estevam. The Swift car reached the dead end and above Etios was very close. Due to this, the missing person drove his car in river water."

The suspects had hidden the car in Hubli where they were also underground. The suspects are now being interrogated in the FIR registered under criminal charges against them.
